Choosing an absorbent for the spill

Selection depends on both the liquid and where it has spilled. SpillFixer granular absorbent is listed for use on land. The selector distinguishes granular absorbent, general socks and pillows, oil-only materials and HazChem materials; one option does not cover every situation.

Can I use the granular absorbent for a spill on water?

The published selector marks granular absorbent as unsuitable for on-water use. For hydrocarbons on water it identifies white oil-only pads, socks and booms. Confirm the liquid and location when choosing a product.

What about water-based emulsions, acids or alkalis?

The selector lists granular absorbent for water-based emulsions and oils on land. For acids or alkalis it says “most”, rather than all. Provide the chemical identity and concentration for a compatibility check; do not interpret a general selector as approval for every chemical.

Should I buy loose absorbent or a complete kit?

Loose absorbent suits a replenishment requirement; a complete kit groups containment and clean-up items. Compare vehicle and warehouse spill-kit options if you need an assembled kit rather than a bag of granular material.
